I don't know how we got on the topic of Antarctica, but as of today, it is Daniele and my new obsession.
I've traveled to a variety of climates, but in the end there is nowhere that I've been to that looks anything like Antarctica. I assume the feeling will be similar to sleeping in the Sahara Desert (not surprising since Antarctica is considered a desert) and being surrounded by all that vastness. There has been no other feeling in my life more peaceful than when I was under all those stars.
We've even for the moment curbed any other fantasy honeymoon destinations (we aren't even engaged, I know) and have started to look at different options for making our way into Antarctica. I've priced out a few options and in terms of cost and overall experience, we're thinking of skipping the cruise and getting our hands dirty with an expedition (if it's possible). But right now that's all dreaming, but since I managed to complete my childhood dream of traveling to Egypt, then it's about time I added another dream to the list. After all, what is life if not creating for ourselves seemingly impossible dreams and reaching them.
*sigh* so many fascinations on earth so little time and money. But if nothing else, I can always take those sailing lessons and get back into diving...just in case an Antarctica trip is in my horizon. ;)
