Daniele and I decided we need a mini vacation since we haven't had a trip together just the two of us since our impromptu whirlwind trip around Ireland and Scotland back in 2012.
Since he only just started working at Apple, and we're planning on having our late honeymoon in 2015, we decided to just take a few days to go somewhere. That was decided two weeks ago for a trip to start, well, today. The only thing is, since our options for a 4-5 day trip are limited, we haven't been thrilled with the choices and kept putting off purchasing tickets.

We wanted to go to Bogoto, but even though December is traditionally dry season for Columbia, it's raining heavily right now.
Aeromexico was having a sale yesterday for flights to Guatemala City, Quito, and Lima, since Quito is also raining we spent so much time trying to decide between Lima and Guatemala City that we missed the sale. Lima was edging to the front since we love Peruvian food and currently Peru is really on top of South America in terms of its culinary prowess, but we couldn't justify going to Lima just for Lima since the city itself is nothing special. Guatemala City on the other hand is close to many gorgeous sights, including Antigua, Tikal, Copan, and Semuc Champey, but in terms of food, it isn't much to get excited about. Both flights would have included long layovers in Mexico City, so we'd get two countries one trip.
That leaves us Mexico City, our original destination that we weren't all too excited about. I've been to Mexico City once before, and it is a nice city, but I think part of the reason why I haven't been to many Latin American countries is that I'm just not as interested in what they have to offer. I am sure once I go I will likely change my mind and find that I love it, but it's convincing myself to go in the first place that's been a struggle.
We have some time to decide whether or not we leave for Mexico City tonight or tomorrow. We'll see what happens.
