I looked at the classic cruise option, but we quickly decided against it. It would be more economical for us to take a cruise, but I get my DIY spirit from my parents, so it was no surprise that we all opted for traveling independently.
We decided on one week, in and out of Anchorage. This way, if any of us decides we want to take a cruise in the future, the inside passage near Juneau will still be new to us.
We're looking at end of July/beginning of August. A quick search on some travel forums says planning a trip to Alaska one month prior to going is impossible, but I love a challenge.
I'm still working out the details, but essentially we'll be using Anchorage as our base with a drive to Denali National Park, the Coastal Classic train to Seward, and a day cruise in Kenai National Park.

I can't wait, even with all my travels, Alaska is still something unlike anywhere I've been before!
